Twelve, Ehh?
In the on-going process of becoming the masters of all things sports and recreation, we've discovered something a bit odd. According to our research (which, to our knowledge is the most extensive research currently being done on any subject), there are no fewer than twelve sports that are essentially the same as hockey. TWELVE! Don't get us wrong. We love Canada and most Canadians (that's right, Keanu), but seriously, WTF? Yes, hockey is great. And yes, there are examples of other sports that are similar to each other (football and rugby). But come on. Bandy? Broomball? Ringette? They're all like the same thing. You're on skates, you're holding something, and you're trying to shoot something into a goal. It'd be like taking baseball and saying, "OK. Now let's invent a new game where you stand at the plate with a.....shovel! Yeah! New sport! What's next? Got it. Maybe a brand new, absolutely unique game where you stand at the plate with a.....sword!! Awesome. On a roll today!" We're cool with a couple versions of a good thing (Digg/Reddit, Pitchfork/Paste, Kanye/Lupe), but twelve? And don't blame it on how cold it is. That excuse sucks. We've heard Ontario is quite mild most of the year. |
