3-Ball
3-Ball
"It's the magic number."
3-Ball
3-Ball can be played by two or more players. It is played by using only three balls. Each player, one at a time, shoots until all the balls are pocketed. The player to do this in the fewest shots wins.
Overview
A popular style of pool played both casually and competitively, 3-Ball challenges players to sink the first three object balls using the fewest amount of cue strokes possible. After completing anywhere from three to five games, the player with the most wins is declared the winner.
Goal of 3-Ball
Put each object ball in a pocket, using the fewest amount of strokes.
Rules of 3-Ball
Anywhere from two to five players compete in rounds, usually consisting of three to five games. Three object balls (usually the 1,2 and 3) are racked, then broke by the first player. The player then tries to get all three balls in the pockets, using the fewest amounts of strokes with the cue. Once finished, the next player has a turn. Once all players have hit, scores are tallied. The player with the lowest score wins the game. After completing the pre-determined amount of games, the player who has won the most games is declared the winner of the round.
History of 3-Ball
Billiards was first played in 15th century England, and has been a popular game throughout Europe and the United States ever since. Many styles and variations have been created using the same basic rules and equipment. Modern 3-Ball evolved from a similar game of the same name that used the 1, 2 and 3 balls. It incorporates rules of straight pool and the "multiple shot per turn" practices of darts and golf. Today 3-Ball is a popular local game, widely played wherever pool tables can be found.
