Blackjack
Blackjack (also known as 21) is a card game. It is very popular within casinos, mainly because it mixes chance with skill.
Overview
Popular due to its mix of chance and skill, blackjack is a playing card game where players battle the dealer to achieve a cumulative score of 21. Strategy must be used because any combination over 21 is considered a bust, while too low of a combination can leave a player vulnerable to the dealer's hand.

Goal of Blackjack
Beat the dealer by having the higher, unbusted hand.
Rules of Blackjack
Play begins with each player placing an initial bet. Minimum/maximum bets are marked on each table, and vary at each casino. Players are then dealt two cards, one card face-up, and the other face-down. If the dealer has blackjack, the game instantly ends. If not, players can hit, stay or make an additional bet. A player's turn ends after standing, doubling down or busting. If a player busts, the bet is lost, regardless of the outcome of the dealer's hand. If the dealer busts, all remaining players win. If a player and the dealer have the same hand, it is a push, and no one wins.
History of Blackjack
Blackjack derives from an earlier card game, first played in French casinos in the 1700's. This game, known as "21," was first introduced in the United States in the late 1800's to largely unenthusiastic players. After gambling houses made changes to alter players' odds, the game became wildly popular. By the early 1900's the game became known as blackjack, due to the winning combination of the Ace of Spades and a black Jack (Jack of Clubs or Spades). Today blackjack is the most popular card game in the United States, played in hundreds of casinos nationwide.
