Bossaball
Bossaball
"Belgium's national pastime."
Bossaball
Bossaball is a sport that is similar to volleyball. It also includes elements of soccer, gymnastics, and capoeira. Each side of the court has an integrated trampoline and inflatable barriers.
Overview
Bossaball is a Belgian sport, which takes elements from many different games and combines them on a large, bouncy playing surface. Game play consists of two teams volleying a ball over a net using any part of the body. Points are scored when the ball hits the ground on the opposing team's side. Bossaball courts are usually set up on beaches or in other tourist areas.
Goal of Bossaball
Score points by causing the ball to hit the ground on the opposing team's side.
Rules of Bossaball
Teams consist of three to five players. Play begins with one player positioned on the trampoline, with the others on surrounding inflatables. The server kicks or throws the ball so it will land on the opposing team's side of the court. The opposing team can then hit the ball a maximum of eight times before returning it to the serving team's side of the court. Players can hit the ball with any part of the body, but are limited to two successive hits with the head or feet and one hit with the hands. While the returning team is hitting the ball, the serving team uses the trampolines and inflatables to gain the height needed to defend their side. One point is scored when the ball lands on the ground or on the inflatables. Three points are scored when the ball lands on the trampoline. The first team to score twenty-five points wins the set. The first team to win two sets wins the match.

Bossaball Safety

Bossaball Training
Players should spend time on a bossaball court prior to playing a game, in order to get acclimated to the trampoline and inflatables. Experience in soccer and/or volleyball can also be helpful in serving and returning the ball.
