Discus is an individual sport where competitors throw a heavy, circular disc. The competitor with the longest throw is the winner. Overview Discus is an ancient Greek sport that dates backs to the 5th century BC. It was featured at the first modern Olympic Games, and is still part of the games today. Competitors use a rotating motion to throw a heavy disc further than anyone else. Competitors have three to six attempts, with the best one counted towards their official results.
