The goal of trivia orienteering is to navigate to all locations and answer the trivia questions located at each site.

In orienteering, participants receive a map of an area which shows a series of sites to visit. Participants develop strategies to navigate from one site to another. The challenge is to find the most efficient route to all of the locations and then answer trivia questions as proof that the participant was there.

Trivia orienteering requires basic navigation skills in order to read the map correctly and be able to navigate to each location. What sets trivia orienteering apart from other types of orienteering is that participants must also have extensive knowledge on a wide variety of subjects in order to answer the trivia questions correctly.
