The Great Ghost Rider Ramble bicycle tour is geared for both the casual recreational rider and the serious bicyclist with ride distances to suit any skill level. The GGRR is NOT a race. Ride at your own pace and enjoy the rural autumn countryside. 25, 35, 50, 58, 72, and 100 Mile Routes The scenic Indiana routes were developed by experienced bicyclists for your pleasure. Routes feature secondary roads and unique painted direction road marks to guide your GGRR adventure. Riders will also receive a fully detailed route map. Roving patrol vehicles will be on the routes watching for riders with mechanical problems. 20 Mile Escorted Ride / Family Fun Ride This is a great ride for the entire family-bring the young ones. Experienced cyclists will accompany you to the rest/ food stop and return with you to the ride star t. If you prefer the added security of ride leaders, then this ride is for you. At 10:30 am, before the ride begins, a brief class on bicycle maintenance, upkeep, and use will be offered. We will assist you in checking out your bike, and preparing it for the day’s ride. Refreshments? You bet! Cincinnati Cycle Club rides are well known for great food and snacks at its events. Entertaining rest stops will be on each route with refreshments to fuel your ride. Fresh water, fruit and snacks will be in plentiful supply for all. Restroom facilities will be at most stops. Starting Times and Locations All rides start at East Central High School in St. Leon, Indiana with parking there and surrounding facilities. Packet pickup opens at 7:00 AM. For safety reasons, there will be staggered ride starts: 100 miles at 7:30 AM, 72 miles at 8:30 AM, 50 and 58 miles at 9:30 AM, 25 and 35 miles at 11:00 AM, and 20 mile Escorted / Family Fun ride at 11:00 AM. Rider Safety Safety is a major concern. We require all riders to wear an ANSI approved bicycling helmet (on their heads). Children under 18 are welcome, but must ride with a responsible adult rider at all times. We also deliberately limit the number of riders to keep road congestion to a minimum. Too many riders on the road at the same time can be dangerous. The limited number of riders will ensure that you won’t feel like you’re part of a herd of cattle at the GGRR. Riders not complying with the safety guidelines will not be permitted into rest stops and will be denied road services. And After the Ride? An all you can eat buffet will be served from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM. The catered buffet includes tossed salad, spaghetti, meat and meatless sauces, meatballs, Italian vegetable medley, garlic bread, beverage, and dessert! Buffet will be limited to preregistered riders and will not be available for persons registering day of ride.
