Summit For Someone Mount Langley Climb
| Detailed Description |
|---|
Participate in a mountaineering adventure while raising money for Big City Mountaineers, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the lives of under-resourced urban teens through transformative outdoor experiences:
Mt. Langley is the southernmost peak in the Sierra above 14,000 feet. Overshadowed by its popular neighbor Mt. Whitney, it receives much less traffic while still offering excellent views and an aesthetically fun route to its summit. There are beautiful views of the Mount Whitney group, the Great Western Divide, Olancha Peak, and the Owens Valley. The trail leading from the Horseshoe Meadows trailhead to the summit is approximately 9 miles. The terrain is over a well-maintained trail with a reasonable grade to Cottonwood Lakes. The scenery is spectacular starting off in a Jeffrey Pine forest and winding through three different temperate zones with the summit being well above timberline in an alpine environment. |
