Mount Hood, located 50 miles east of Portland, is one of the most-climbed glaciated peaks in North America. Unlike many of the Cascade Volcanoes, this is a reasonable one-day climb. If you’re new to the sport, this is the one to try! The program starts with the Basic Snow Climbing Course and culminates on day two with a snow cat ride to the top of Timberline Ski Area and from there, an ascent of Mt. Hood via the South Side Route.
