Summit For Someone Longs Peak Climb
| Detailed Description |
|---|
Participate in a mountaineering adventure while raising money for Big City Mountaineers, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the lives of under-resourced urban teens through transformative outdoor experiences:
Longs Peak is the only 14,000-foot peak located within Rocky Mountain National Park, and is the most coveted of all Colorado Fourteeners. It towers over its surrounding peaks in the northern Front Range of the Colorado Rockies. Different angles show the great mountain's unique profiles. Changing weather reflects Longs Peak's many moods. Its most notable feature is the spectacular 1,675-foot east face, a portion of which, the sheer 1,000-foot Diamond face, has long been respected by climbers as an extraordinary challenge.
Longs dominates the Front Range and the history of climbing in Colorado. It offers classics at every grade, from 3rd class scrambles like the Keyhole and Clark's Arrow to 5.13 rock and ephemeral ice and mixed routes on the great East and North Faces. An ascent of the 5.4 Kieners Route involves technical climbing of rock, snow and ice, depending on the season. |
