Blaze Sports Club of America - Junior Wheelchair Sports - Virginia Beach, VA - City of Virginia Beach, VA. BlazeSports Virginia Beach is one of 49 community based sports programs in the United States, supported by BlazeSports AmericaSM, serving individuals with physical disabilities in the Hampton Roads area. The mission of BlazeSports® is to "maximize the potential of people with physical disability through sport".
This sports club hosts various special events for local athletes and coaches including sports clinics and educational opportunities. It also promotes community awareness of adaptive sports by participating in community parades and having an active BlazeSportsClubs of Virginia Beach Booster Club.
This program offers youth with physical disabilities (Spinal Cord Injuries, Cerebral Palsy, Amputees, etc.) in the Hampton Roads area the opportunity to learn about various wheelchair sports for leisure participation. During the Winter season, athletes will focus on the fundamentals of wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby (wheelchair mobility, ball handling skills, teamwork, speed & endurance) through drills, relays, and game activities.
Athlete Eligibility: Must have the ability to push manual wheelchair/sports chair and have the desire to actively participate.
